Modern Dear Jane - Part 1
I have been rocking along making my modern Dear Jane blocks. I said in my last post that I will elaborate on my plans. I am making a modern colour Dear Jane quilt and I have set out my colours as shown here below.

My plan is to complete the first row of wedges and the first row of blocks as a mini-project. I have known a few people to make Dear Jane quilts and have heard the comment that the outer wedges are daunting to do all at once when you have completed all of the main blocks. Even finishing the first row of wedges is a lot of work so I can't imagine facing them all at once when the centre is completed.

It also adds some variety to the time spent piecing.

My process so far has been to use EQ8 with the Dear Jane add-on. I am also using advice about piecing from this site. I am preferring to use more than one, preferably three, coloured fabrics for each block. Some of the blocks and wedges in the first row have appliquéd pieces. I am not an experienced appliquér so I am delaying making some of these blocks at the moment until I get a few more of the pieced ones done.
Stay tuned for more...
